Clayton New Jersery Welcomes the First Snowman Contest of the Season!

Snowman contest hopes to bring cheer & shoppers to the Clayton businesses

"Dollars N. Cents", the snowman sponsored by Fulton Bank, was unveiled at Clayton borough's new snowman contest - one they hope will encourage shoppers to support the small businesses in their town by shopping locally.

This bank snowman welcomes visitors with his blue Fulton Bank hat and t-shirt, a red scarf and his ice cream cone nose.

Clayton Mayor Tom Bianco said during the chilly event, "We want to bring the holiday spirit to the residents...We thought snowmen would be perfect."

Christine McCormick, Vice Chairwoman of the Special Events Committee added, "Public works and I came up with the design for the snowman and everyone has to start with the base... we're very excited to do this and be one of the first towns to do this."

The snowmen are made from three pieces of plywood, cut into circles that are attached to a 1 inch by 3 inch board. They can have decorations, like Dollars N. Cents' lantern which will light the area for five hours every night.

Residents and businesses can vote for their favorite snowmen to win one of four categories including most festive, most town spirit, best business or group, and overall best.

More about this story can be found at the NJ.com website. Also, for more information about this contest, you can visit the borough's website.
