The crews at the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority once again created the tumbleweed snowman who has been a holiday fixture for more than two decades along the edge of Interstate 40 just west of Carlisle.

This year, the AMAFCA crew overcame drought stress to find
some particularly nice weeds, creating a snowman that, at more than 13
feet, is believed to be the largest ever. James Moya, AMAFCA’s welder,
built a new, larger metal hat.
But the real crowning touch is the snowman’s new scarf, knitted by Liz Ortega, Moya’s mother-in-law.
