Schenectady’s Massacre of 1690... talk of Snowmen and New Yorker Cartoons in Schnectady

Bob Eckstein talks about the snowman's part in an historical event...

Mabee Farm Historic Site, Rotterdam Junction, NY - We were hoping for a snowman contest out front, but the weather wasn't quite co-operating on Sat, Dec 8th.

Meanwhile, inside Bob Eckstein speaks (with Curator Ryan Mahoney standing
nearby in tie) about early snowmen

THANK YOU to the enthusiastic audience of 100 or so folks who came out in the rain!

Bob signs book and answers questions about snowmen, Ft. Schenectady and
New Yorker Cartoons...

...and Thank You to the Hospitality Committee of the Schenectady Historical Society
who brought out trays of holiday treats... including these wonderful - non-edible -
but so delightful snowmen.

100th Anniversary Globe of the Schenectady Massacre - What a wonderful surprising gift given to us by Gioia ("Joya") Ottaviano of Schnectady - we can't say THANK YOU enough!

It was a great day spent with the folks at the historical society. If you find yourself in the area, it is worth stopping by and seeing what they have up for display.

You can find out more about the Schenectady Historical Society and their programs at their website as well as their other location at the Mabee Farm Historic Site in Rotterdam Junction - and their website is here. (That location is really wonderful, and they have great programs through out the year!)
